Peet's uses carefully selected decaffeination methods designed to remove caffeine while preserving the flavor and character of the coffee.
Water Process Decaffeination
All bagged decaf coffees and Peet's coffee pods are decaffeinated using the water process method. In this process, green coffee beans are soaked in water to remove caffeine before being dried and prepared for roasting.
Peet's works with several decaffeination partners, including Swiss Water and other water-process facilities in Germany and Mexico, all of which meet our high quality and taste standards.
Espresso Capsule Decaffeination
Decaffeinato Ristretto Espresso Capsules are decaffeinated using the carbon dioxide (CO₂) method. During this process, green coffee beans are exposed to highly compressed carbon dioxide, which extracts caffeine while helping preserve the coffee's flavor characteristics.
Quality & Flavor
The same high-quality coffee beans sourced for Peet's coffees are used in our decaf offerings. Regardless of the decaffeination method, our goal is to deliver the rich flavor and quality you expect from Peet's Coffee.
